Manchester Day Two

Day Two started with the group's working or homework on the project financing risk of a local government embarking on having a mega event or hosting an event where huge investments will be involved and how its going to be sustainable. After that the day started with a lecture from Carole Brooks ( a founding director of Organisation Development Services and a visiting fellow at Manchester Business School). Her subject was Leadership and Stakeholder mapping.

Seen here Chris Solly introducing Richard Bunn (he started his broadcasting career in the UK and in 1978 was invited to join the European Broadcast Union in Geneva. Richard was also the driving force behind the creation of Eurosport and was awarded the Olympic Order in 2001.
He briefed us on Broadcast and New Media.

Before we broke off for the day, we heard a very interesting story on the development of Manchester as a sports city. The presenter was Jim Quigley ( Head of Major Sports Events and Partnerships, Manchester City Council ). We covered Major Event Acquisition and Delivery with him and also deliberated on the stakeholders puzzle.
