Manchester Day Five

Group One members consist of from left Ian McCormack, Nichola Rolph, Linda Hoey, Rory Wyley and Nathauth.

The Group Two members consist of from Left Mr Nonchai, Ms Sybil Fernandez and Naim.

Group Three consists of from left Miss Lee (Taiwan), Sharon Burns, Mrs Ghalaleo and Visout.


Day 5 of the Intensive Five Day International Event Administration started with a lecture from Mr Andy Preece (Director of PMP and leads the National and International projects team. He has successfully managed a wide range of projects in Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia and Mainland Europe) for session 11 which discusses the topic on Event Legacy and after that followed by Mr. Steve Griffiths for session 12 on the subject of Stakeholder Relations from an International Federation perspective. The international, regional and national sports sector inherently has numerous stakeholders to consider in project and programme development and delivery. The session explores the structure of an International Federation and its ability to integrate with its members and major event host nations/cities.

Manchester Day Four

Day four of our intensive 5 day international event administration course starts with the introduction of Dr Stuart Roper (senior lecturer in Marketing at the Manchester Business School) who lectures us on Marketing Management where the aim is to go beyond the theoritical 4 P's inherent to marketing and explore when appropriate other P's in startegic and network marketing. As normal and usual, lunch is being served at the Cafetaria and a special setting is arranged for the Executive participants. Seen in the picture above from left Dr Stuart Roper, Mr Rory Wyley,Mr Ian McCormack, Datuk Naim Mohamad, Mr Patrick Nally and Mrs Ghalaleo (Ghali).

The 10th session was presented by Mr Patrick Nally (acknowledged as a pioneer of international sports marketing and sponsorship.He devised the FIFA World Cup and International Olympic Committee (IOC) top sponsor packages) who talk on Sponsorship and Brand connection.

Seen here in the picture above, Mr Michael Cary introducing Mr Jean-Pierre Morand (graduated at the St Gallen Business and Law School and admitted to the Geneva Bar in 1985. Regularly practising and acting as arbitrator or counsel before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland) for the session 11 lecture on Evolution of Host City Contract with the case study on the America Cup.

Manchester Day Three

The third day starts with a lecture from the Director of the
World Academy of Sports, Chris Solly. He covered intensively
and extensively on the subject of Project Acquisition and delivery.
Seen in the above picture some of the participants. Naim from the
Malaysian National Cycling Federation, Ms Nichola Rolph from
British Cycling and Mr Rory Wyley from the Irish Cycling Federation.
The person behind the participants is Mr Michael Cary, Programme Manager.

One of the sites is the City of Manchester Stadium.

Manchester Day Two

Day Two started with the group's working or homework on the project financing risk of a local government embarking on having a mega event or hosting an event where huge investments will be involved and how its going to be sustainable. After that the day started with a lecture from Carole Brooks ( a founding director of Organisation Development Services and a visiting fellow at Manchester Business School). Her subject was Leadership and Stakeholder mapping.

Seen here Chris Solly introducing Richard Bunn (he started his broadcasting career in the UK and in 1978 was invited to join the European Broadcast Union in Geneva. Richard was also the driving force behind the creation of Eurosport and was awarded the Olympic Order in 2001.
He briefed us on Broadcast and New Media.

Before we broke off for the day, we heard a very interesting story on the development of Manchester as a sports city. The presenter was Jim Quigley ( Head of Major Sports Events and Partnerships, Manchester City Council ). We covered Major Event Acquisition and Delivery with him and also deliberated on the stakeholders puzzle.

Manchester Day One

Mike our transporter fetched us from the Ibis Hotel at about 8-00 am and after about 5 minutes drive we were at the vicinity of the University of Manchester, the Manchester Business School.

Chris Solly started us off with the Course introduction and the first lecture was on Startegic Innovation in a changing environment which was presented by Mr Ali Nasralia (he read business management at Baghdad and Manchester Universities and is a qualified Accountant. He joined the Manchester Business School's faculty in 1985, following a number of industrial and banking assignments).

The next lecture was presented by Dr Anna Semens and she covered the topic on Sports Indexng basically covering sports ranking.

The evening lecture was delivered by Mr Mohamed Lotfi Boulkeroua (a lecturer from Dundee University. His areas of focus include capital markets, corporate and international Finance and Global Risk Analysis). He covered the subject on Project Financing and Risks.
